Here is what Canon has said about the camera.
The new Canon EOS R3 Body is designed to capture objects moving at high speed and built to meet the exacting demands of professional shooters, with ultra-responsiveness, high sensitivity, high reliability and durability.
At the heart of the EOS R3 lies a brand-new 24.1MP back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor, working in concert with our world-class DIGIC X image processor. Together, they deliver the fast readout and processing required for RAW files to be captured at 30fps, with full AF/AE tracking.
Taking object-tracking capabilities to new heights, EOS R3 features people and animal AF tracking modes and can also track cars and motorbikes – making it perfect for motorsports shooters. With Canon’s unique Eye Control AF technology, the EOS R3 focuses where you are looking. Giving you unparalleled control over AF, allowing the camera to react as quickly as you do to ever-changing scenes.
Benefit from up to 8-stops of protection against camera shake with Image Stabilizer (IS) technology. The camera’s In-Body IS works in tandem with the Optical IS built into many RF lenses, letting you shoot handheld in dim light or while using longer shutter speeds.
Capture oversampled 4K or RAW video footage internally to a CFexpress card with Canon Log 3 for greater dynamic range and colour grading possibilities. Crucially, the same object recognition available to stills photographers is also available to videographers.
I personally cannot wait to see some sample images as well as video. I’ll keep you posted.
